26th August 2022 – A foreigner from France with the initials RJPB (30) was fatally wounded due to strong waves at Klingking Beach, Bungamekar Village, Nusa Penida, Bali. He has a broken left arm after being hit by strong waves while swimming on the beach.

The incident happened on Wednesday (24/8) around 13:30 PM WITA. Nusa Penida Sector Police Chief (Kapolsek) Kompol I Gede Redastra said that it happened when the foreigner and his female friend, with the initials BME (30) arrived at Klingking Beach around 11:30 AM WITA.wa

RJPB immediately went swimming on the beach while BME, along with a taxi driver, waited on the shore. One hour later, a strong wave suddenly crushed RJPB and he fell to the sand. Due to that incident, the victim ends up with a broken left arm.

Redastra said that his team received the report regarding the incident around 1:55 PM WITA. Nusa Penida Police personnel along with the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) and the medic team immediately evacuated the victim by sea, using a RIB boat belonging to Basarnas.

RJPB was successfully evacuated at 4:30 PM WITA and was immediately run to the Nusa Medika clinic for further treatment. However, the injury was beyond them and was advised to be evacuated to Bali for special treatment.

Cakra Negara, the coordinator of the Nusa Penida SAR Alert Unit, said that the victim was evacuated by sea because he was in a weak condition and unable to walk. This makes it impossible to be evacuated via land as the terrain surrounding Kelingking Beach is quite difficult to pass.
