Successive Accident in Puncak Bogor, 9 Vehicles Face Major Damage, 17 Injured Victims

On 23rd January 2024, at 11 AM, a successive accident occurred in the Puncak Bogor area, specifically in front of the Tugu Selatan elementary school. This incident involved a total of 9 vehicles, comprising 5 cars and 4 motorbikes.

The sequence of events leading to these accidents initiated when a box truck transporting mineral water lost control while navigating the Puncak highway. The driver’s lack of concentration during the descent on the curved road led to the box truck colliding successively with eight vehicles in front of it.

 


Iptu Angga Nugraha from the Bogor police stated, “Regarding the alleged brake failure issue, we will conduct a thorough investigation. We plan to summon representatives from the automotive manufacturer and relevant authorities for examination.”

As of now, a total of 17 individuals have sustained injuries in the accident, including the driver of the box truck. Among the injured, 4 individuals are in serious condition, while the remaining 13 have minor injuries. Notably, 3 of the victims are children, and the others are adults.

“The box truck driver is currently in a state of shock, making it challenging to gather information from him. He is receiving medical treatment in the emergency room, and efforts are underway to verify his identity. Yes, the count of injured victims stands at 17, including the box truck driver,” added Iptu Angga.

A video posted by Info Puncak Bogor depicts the current situation at the site of the successive accident. The area is strewn with wreckage from damaged cars, and the police are actively engaged in the evacuation process.

Furthermore, several shophouses along the roadside have suffered damage, with their fronts visibly destroyed by the impact. The uploaded content also reveals the severely damaged condition of the victim’s cars, prompting concern from many netizens about the well-being of those involved.

As of 24th January 2024, the police are still in the process of conducting thorough investigations. They are also awaiting the recovery of the box truck driver before proceeding with further actions in this case.
