The First Panoramic Train in Indonesia, What to Expect?

Share:

20th September 2022 – The first panoramic train in Indonesia will soon be in service as the test run videos have been publicly shared on social media a couple of weeks ago.

Commerce Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Persero, Hadis Surya Palapa, said that he does not want to rush the process as the results will not be optimal however, he reassured us that the train can be launched hopefully in one or two months.

Although the panoramic train is technically adequate, KAI is currently still formulating the program and how it will be used. According to Palapa, how the train looks that has been around the social media is still to be perfected especially the train’s interiors.

PT KAI is making new innovations by modifying the executive class passenger train into a panoramic train.

The panoramic train features a sunroof with the windows of the train being wider and bigger so that passengers can view more of the scenery.

Currently, the panoramic train is still going through test runs statistically and dynamically by the railway facility testing team from the Railway Testing Centre.

It was done in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Transportation PM Number 15 of 2011 concerning trains that undergo modifications before operating must undergo the first test.

This includes design tests, dimension tests, light intensity tests, air circulation tests, noise tests, bearing temperature tests, and leak tests.

The Vice President of Public Relations of Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), Joni Martinus, said that his team has yet to be able to give further information on the exact date of when the panoramic train will be fully operated nor he’s able to give information regarding ticket prices.

This information is in line with the statement given by the Railway Testing Centre quoted from its official Twitter account that the panoramic train is yet to operate officially and is still in the testing stage.
