Tidore Island, located in North Maluku and positioned to the west of Halmahera Island, has become a focus for tourism development through the efforts of the City Culture and Tourism Office. This development encompasses three vibrant tourist villages: Balbar Village in the North Oba District, Mare Kofo Village, and Mare GAM Village situated in the South Tidore District.

This enchanting island boasts diverse attractions, from captivating beaches, majestic waterfalls, and water-based activities to intriguing museums and traditional villages. However, its underwater splendour takes centre stage. Renowned for spectacular snorkelling and diving sites, Tidore’s coral reefs house vibrant marine life, including playful pods of dolphins.

The historical significance of the Tidore Islands plays a pivotal role in Indonesia’s contemporary civilization. Marking a significant moment on 11 December 1521, Tidore served as the central hub for the spice route, initiating the first clove exports to Europe. Looking forward to the tourism surge in 2024, the Ministry of Transportation is prioritizing the enhancement of transportation facilities and infrastructure.

Travelling to the Tidore Islands offers two main routes: by sea or air. Sultan Babullah Airport caters to Boeing 737-800 and Airbus A320 flights. Additionally, there’s a crossing port available for passenger ships to reach these captivating islands.
