The climb to Mount Batur usually starts around 3–4 am to reach the summit before sunrise. Thus, visitors will not miss the amazing sunrise moment at the top of the mountain.

Here are some tips to get the best view when climbing Mount Batur

1. Start from the designated hiking point

You can access the starting point for climbing Mount Batur in Banjar Toya Bungkah, which is about 1.5 hours away from Denpasar City. You can bring your own vehicle or rent, there is a large parking lot at the starting point of this climb.

Then, you just have to climb with a fairly short path and climb terrain that is not too steep or steep. Even on this path, there are mountain motorcycle taxis with large cc motorbikes that can take you to an altitude of 1650 meters above sea level. While climbing through this route, you will find many trees. So that you will not overheat while climbing.

2. Prepare your stamina

The hiking time is relatively short, usually around 2 to 3 hours. However, it is important to prepare a good stamina and mentality before climbing. Also, even though the hike starts in the morning, it is important that you sleep beforehand, so the day before the hike, make sure to sleep first.

3. Pay the ticket

Before starting the hike, you will meet a small building that is used to pay the entrance ticket and order a mountain motorcycle taxi. The entrance ticket price is IDR 50,000 for foreign tourists. You can set off on your own and meet up with other groups during the hike or hire a tour guide to accompany you.

4. Best time to climb Mount Batur

Climbing Mount Batur via Toya Bungkah will take about 2 hours to 3 hours. So if you want to see the sunrise at the top of the mountain, you should start climbing around 2 or 3 am. No need to rush in climbing because you will go through quite rocky terrain.

5. Wear comfortable and warm clothes

You might think that since Bali is tropical, it won’t be cold. Don’t be mistaken. Don’t forget to wear comfortable and weather-appropriate clothing. The morning temperature at Mount Batur can be very cold.

6. Use a guide

To get the best experience, it is best to use the services of a guide. A guide can provide interesting information about Mount Batur, ensure your safety during the climb, and help you navigate the terrain.

7. Respect the culture
