Viral Video: An Officer Falls from an Airplane at an Indonesian Airport

Share:

A video went viral on social media after showing an airplane cabin officer falling while checking an airline about to take off.

The officer fell from the plane because the stairs to the aircraft cabin had been pushed away even though the door had not yet closed.

In the video, two ground officers push the stairs away from the fuselage. They do not realize that officers still in the cabin are conducting checks.

As a result, the officer wearing the green vest fell when his left foot did not tread on the ladder. The cabin inspection paper he was holding was scattered into the air. The officer also fell with his body facing upwards, so the back of his body hit the concrete first.

The officer looked in pain and lay limp even though he made a few movements. Aviation expert Abi Satria also uploaded the video to his personal Instagram account, @inimasabi

Clarification of PT Jasa Angkasa Semesta

PT Jasa Angkasa Semesta (JAS) clarified the incident of a ground handling officer falling from the door of an Airbus A320 TransNusa aircraft at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang. The incident was recorded in a short viral video.

According to the company’s official statement, PT JAS said its officer fell from the aircraft door on Monday, May 13, 2024.

It was stated that the incident began when PT JAS officers helped prepare TransNusa flight 8B 5110 from Soekarno-Hatta Airport (CGK) to I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport (DPS).

“The incident was due to miscommunication between the flight coordinator (FC) officer and our passenger boarding stairs (PBS) officer, resulting in the FC officer not knowing the position of PBS when he was about to leave the plane,” said information in a media release quoted from several Indonesian national media.

PT JAS explained that after the incident, the officer was immediately taken to emergency medical assistance at the airport terminal and further examined at Hermina Periuk Hospital, Tangerang.

“We are very grateful that our man suffered no serious injuries after the incident. We apologize to all stakeholders for the inconvenience. We are committed to ensuring that similar incidents will not happen again in the future. We also always increase supervision to ensure safety, security, and comfort for workers and users of PT JAS.”
