Visa Payment Available Through Debit and Credit Cards

Visa payment, including electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA) and electronic Visa (e-Visa), can be made by credit or debit card using the Payment Gateway method.

“This payment gateway is specifically for visa payment. (Payments) that are currently possible are through credit and debit cards Mastercard, Visa, and JCB,” said Acting Director General of Immigration, Widodo Ekatjahjana.

This payment method refers to Regulation Number 157/PMK.02/2022 which regulates the payment of Visa Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) within the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia, and has been in effect since Friday, November 4, 2022.

For information, Payment gateway is a mechanism that reads and transfers payment information from the customer to the provider’s bank account. These systems play a role in capturing data, ensuring funds are available, and getting providers paid.

According to Widodo, the implementation of a payment gateway can break the bottleneck (density) that occurs in the Visa on Arrival payment queue at the bank counter.

“Please remember that because this is an international payment, the prevailing exchange rate is the exchange rate on that day and there is an administrative fee that will be charged for the transaction,” he said.

Previously, visa payment methods could only be through billing codes and cash for Visa on Arrival.

The payment system is planned to be launched in conjunction with the inauguration of e-VOA on Wednesday, November 9, 2022.

Visitors to Indonesia can now apply and pay for an electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VoA) through the government website.
